Asheville This Weekend: September 20‑21, 2025

This weekend in Asheville brings the Heritage Weekend at the Folk Art Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway that spans two days of traditional crafts, live Appalachian music, and friendly competition. If you’d rather explore farms, head out on the ASAP Farm Tour to see local agriculture up close. For culture, the Biltmore Estate Heritage Weekend offers gardens, music, and Southern heritage. And even beyond this weekend’s events, places like the River Arts District, Blue Ridge Parkway drives, the Arboretum, and the Asheville Art Museum are open and ready to explore. We’d be thrilled to see you in town and hope you make memories here with us.

What’s On This Weekend

The 45th Annual Heritage Weekend at the Folk Art Center takes place Saturday and Sunday, September 20‑21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Located at Milepost 382 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in East Asheville, this event is a celebration of Southern Appalachian culture. You’ll find craft demonstrations like weaving, wood carving, stone carving, and natural dyeing. Live bluegrass and gospel music add to the atmosphere, and there’s a fun highlight for all ages: the World Gee Haw Whimmy Diddle Competition at 2 p.m. Saturday, where contestants compete using traditional hand‑made toys. Admission is free, making it a great choice for families or anyone curious about the region’s arts and heritage.

The ASAP Farm Tour also runs both days, noon to 5 p.m., featuring working farms around Western North Carolina. This is a chance to visit orchards, see where food is grown, meet local farmers, and enjoy the open countryside. It’s perfect for anyone who loves fresh produce, scenic drives, and getting off the beaten track for a few hours. The changing light at this time of year adds to the peaceful, rural vibe.

The Biltmore Estate Heritage Weekend invites visitors to wander gardens, explore mountain‑tradition displays, and enjoy music and performances tied to the region’s history. Though not strictly limited to this weekend, the Heritage Weekend is one of the standout seasonal events that pairs beautifully with a cabin stay offering arts, gardens, and historic architecture under the overhead canopy of early‑fall light.

Also Open & Always Worth Doing

Even if you don’t attend an event, Asheville offers several “must‑see” experiences that are always available and pair beautifully with a weekend visit. The River Arts District is full of working studios, murals, galleries, and cafés. It’s a vibrant place to explore at your own pace. Taking a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, especially the sections near Craggy Gardens, remains a top pick for gorgeous views and fresh air. The North Carolina Arboretum is a wonderful spot for garden walks, bonsai displays, and enjoying nature without needing to plan a full day around events. The Asheville Art Museum downtown showcases 20th and 21st‑century American art and regional artists, which is perfect for when you want art inside or out.

We hope this weekend gives you memorable moments of watching artisans at work, strolling a quiet trail, or listening to music under the trees. If you're visiting Asheville, we’d love to welcome you at Log Cabin Motor Court. Our cabins are cozy, historic, and ideally located to enjoy both the special events and the everyday magic of this place. See you soon.
