How to Spend 3 Days in Asheville, NC

Three Days in Asheville at the Log Cabin Motor Court

There's a rhythm to Asheville that doesn't reveal itself right away. It's not hurried, not loud. You won't find it by rushing from one attraction to the next, or trying to squeeze the city into an afternoon. If you stay long enough, you'll pick up on the little things that make Asheville beautiful like the sound of tires on the winding parkway, the leaves rustling in the breeze, and the easy laughter that spills out of cafes and local breweries.

Where should you stay while you're in Asheville? The Log Cabin Motor Court, of course! We are a historic cluster of dog friendly cabins that are just close enough to the hustle and bustle of Asheville, but far enough away to feel like a true mountain retreat.

Day One

What better way to start your long weekend than exploring on a bike? If you're wanting to be shown around the best places downtown, you'll want to book in with The Flying Bike - you'll hop on your e-bike and be shown around a carefully curated list of top spots, with the stories behind each modern day and historic site. If you're one of our more outdoorsy guests, reach out to Asheville Trails and Taps who will bring you on a guided mountain bike tour through some of the best trails Asheville has to offer.

After a solid day of riding, you'll no doubt be starving. One of our favorite restaurants is Posana, known for its seasonal menu and thoughtful approach to sourcing. The food feels grounded no matter what you order, and you can wander downtown after a delicious meal before making your way back to your cozy cabin.

Day Two

After a full day of biking, your second day should center around taking in the scenery from another angle - through the window of your car! The Blue Ridge Parkway is just a short drive from your cabin door, and is the kind of road that demands detours. It's leaf peeping season now, so the leaves will be hues of gold, red and orange that makes the mountains come alive.

From the parkway, you can head to Craggy Gardens, a trail that winds through twisting trees and ends in a panorama that will take your breath away. It's seemingly endless views of peaks and forested slopes from the top of Craggy Pinnacle.

Back in town that afternoon, you could stroll the River Arts District, where studios buzz with activity and beautiful art that you could bring home to remember Asheville by. There are many galleries, tours and events in the district that you can choose from to fill your night.

End your night the same way in began on your cabin porch with a tea in hand.

Day Three

By day three, you've found your own pace. Maybe you choose a light hike at Bent Creek, or explore the North Asheville Tailgate Market if it's a Saturday. You drink your coffee a little slower and stop caring about phone service. There's time for one last walk, one last bite and one more scenic drive before heading out.

Because this isn't a checklist kind of town, there's never enough time in a long weekend to see it all. We would love to welcome you back to your home away from home at the Log Cabin Motor Court.
